Finding High Quality Corporate Housing & Furnished Apartments
Finding high quality short-term housing isn’t always as simple as it may seem. Finding standard apartment rentals is easy enough, finding good ones, suitable for shorter terms isn’t so easy. If you travel for work, or run a company that has staff who travel, you will already know that corporate rentals are cheaper than hotels, but how do you find good ones?
Real Estate Agents
The logical starting place is a real estate agent who also deals in rentals or rental agency. Each should have an inventory of available short-term housing in suitable areas for you to choose. They should also be able to advise you of desirable areas and warn you away from less desirable ones. The local knowledge of a good agent is very useful if you’re traveling to a new city. If you’re staying away from home ground, this is probably the best place to start.
The Internet
Where would we be without the internet? There are dozens of websites that cater for rental properties and short-term housing. Some will do it on a national level, others on a more local one. If you know exactly where you’re going, head straight for local searches to see what’s around. Many homeowners turned landlords advertise their own properties on the internet. They don’t always use agencies, so will often only be found on the web. Rental by Owner websites are proving very popular with both landlords and those seeking high quality short term housing. The internet is also a useful place to research the city and the neighborhood. There are many sites that collate a dizzying array of statistics from crime to property prices and everything in-between. If you really want to go what you’re getting yourself into, do your research.
Check Local Libraries and Colleges
Even though we have the internet, libraries are still incredibly valuable places for collecting information and doing research. They also often have noticeboards and places where local businesses can put advertisements. If you’re in the city of choice, these are a good place to begin a search. Colleges also have noticeboards and resources for those trying to find short-term housing. It isn’t only students who need somewhere to stay. College lecturers and visiting professors often need temporary accommodation off-campus. Many enterprising landlords will place an advert on campus to attract that audience.
Local Newspapers
The local daily or weekly newspaper will be stuffed full of advertising. At least some of those will include short-term housing. Some leasing agents will take out whole page advertisements with their most appealing inventory. Some will use smaller adverts in the accommodation sections. Many for rent by owner landlords will also use local media to advertise their properties. It’s useful to find out if there is a “property day” in which the paper dedicates more space than usual to real estate. Those are just a few ideas of places to find high quality short-term housing. Each has its own merits, and its own shortfalls. Each should however offer a wealth of decent accommodation to corporate rentals or individuals alike.
