Finding high quality short-term housing isn’t always as simple as it may seem. Finding standard apartment rentals is easy enough, finding good ones, suitable for shorter terms isn’t so easy. There are many sites that collate a dizzying array of statistics from crime to property prices and everything in-between. If you really want to go what you’re getting yourself into, do your research.

Even though we have the internet, libraries are still incredibly valuable places for collecting information and doing research. They also often have noticeboards and places where local businesses can put advertisements. If you’re in the city of choice, these are a good place to begin a search. Colleges also have noticeboards and resources for those trying to find short-term housing. It isn’t only students who need somewhere to stay. College lecturers and visiting professors often need temporary accommodation off-campus. Many enterprising landlords will place an advert on campus to attract that audience.

The local daily or weekly newspaper will be stuffed full of advertising. At least some of those will include short-term housing.
